- Mechanism / Operating Style
IBF321
- Uses an inverted lever action to engage plates.
- Often considered better for high inertia or frequent engagement duty because the lever design can provide more controlled plate clamping.
Twin Disc
SP321
- Uses a counter-balanced toggle/over-center action to engage.
- Toggle action can result in positive, quick engagement with fewer mechanical parts.
Twin Disc
- Performance and Duty
While both are the same nominal 321 clutch size class, the IBF version (inverted lever) is generally chosen for heavy, shock-loaded or frequent engagement environments due to the action of the mechanism.
Twin Disc
The SP version may be more common in standard PTO applications where engagement speed and simplicity are priorities.
